Walk, take a bus and loss weight

These days we being forced by our instinct to shift from riding our own vehicle to just doing some brisk walking or riding a public transportation in order for us to save some money, due to the fast rising Gasoline Price in the market.

But there is a brighter side on shifting from riding to your own vehicle to bus. In a recent study, it was estimated that if you walk to and ride a public transportation, clocking an average of 25 minutes of brisk walk a day, you’ll end up burning over 100 calories (based on body weight of 70kg).

How to become a good developer?

If you are a developer or an aspiring one, you may sometimes ask colleagues or ask even yourself, how to become good developer. Gunnar Peipman discussed on his blog some points to know on how to become one.

"I was asked through this blog how to become a good developers. I think this is the question that many beginners want to ask. For every question there are thousands of answers. Okay, there are many answers like these but these ones are mine.

  1. Attitude. […] You have to […] study, study and study [...]
  2. Read the books. […] For guys who find books to expensive for them - there are public libraries where you can find books. Also you can check out Google books system and search for free e-Books. There are many great e-books available in internet and they are free.
  3. Code! Code! Code!
  4. Try out tools and utilities that make your work easier. Try out new technologies. To stay on the track you should know about things that happened today or that will happen tomorrow.
  5. Look how other guys develop systems.
  6. Everything that shines is not gold. Although there are industry leaders and veterans and their opinions matter they are just human beings like you and me. And they make mistakes - just like you and me. […]
  7. There are also online information sources like discussion groups […]
  8. Participate in communities. […]
  9. Visit technology events. If it is possible visit technical events. […] "

Okay. That’s it. All I can add up is learn how to ask for help. Learn how to aks without you look likes an idiot. Just kidding.

Java is NOT Object-Oriented !?

Is it true? What can you say, Java Fanatics? According to Eric of LispCast, Java is not an Object-Oriented.

"Object-oriented programming was touted as the solution to the code reuse problem. However, experience has shown the programming community that classes, by themselves, are not reused. When was the last time you downloaded a single .class file? It is, in fact, not the objects that are important, but the interactions and relationships between objects that are important. Their interactions are where they get their power. Hence libraries, which define a set of classes and their interactions, are the principal means of code reuse. And it is this reuse, because libraries can solve many specific problems in a general way, that defines their place as principal."

woah woah woah! I am not a Java buff nor do I hate Java but for me programming languages differ in the way you use it. Anyway, you can read the full article here.
